We live in a world of change – constantly moving circumstances. This year will find us at 10 years on the Pumpkin Patch, and we also celebrated 45 years in the dairy business. February 29th we sold all our milk cows, as part of a plan to transition to an organic dairy. It was hard to see the ‘girls’ leave our farm! We still have our young stock that we raise, and started to transition our yearlings in December to be a part of our organic herd. We are in a holding pattern right now as we wait for the go-ahead to start up with a new company. This also offers up some changes for the Pumpkin Patch, as the cows are leaving the farm to be used as more of an ‘event’ property. I’m looking forward to the clean-up this summer being the last in a long line of clean-ups involving manure!! We have a lot of ideas on the table that include weddings, birthdays, and corporate events. It won’t happen over night, but it will free up the property for some new adventures.
